On July 08, 2024 in New York City, the United States of America, H.E. CHHIENG YANARA, Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions and Second Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), partook in 2024 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), the central global platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in which member states represented by ministers and high-level officials convenes.

Under the theme of Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and Eradicating Poverty in times of Multiple Crises: the Effective Delivery of Sustainable, Resilient and Innovative Solutions, 2024 HLPF aimed to review in-depth SDGs 1 - end poverty, 2 - end hunger, 13 - combat climate change, 16 - promote inclusive socities, provide access to justice and build effective institutions, and 17 - partnerships for the Goals.

As the partnerships aspect is at the core, H.E. Senior Minister delivered a statement on SDG 17 - critical means to achieve all the other SDGs. The world has found itself past the midpoint of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with stagnant progress, but acceleration remains possible. Although the first half of SDGs was adversely impacted by the COVID-19 and other global, regional challenges, member​ state, in collaboration with other development actors, can accelerate the progress in the second half. In this regard, effective development cooperation and partnerships and commitment to address development financing challenges through the use of multilateralism and various financing mechanisms to support the government in achieving SDGs is imperative to create a more equitable, resilient and sustainable world.
